NACC is charged with accountability for HIV and Aids results in Kenya. To strengthen evidence for HIV programming and access to research information and knowledge, NACC with support from stakeholders runs the Kenya HIV, sexual and reproductive health and co-morbidities research hub dubbed ‘Maisha Maarifa Research Hub.’
Maisha Maarifa Research Hub is an online-based site that amalgamates information from research reports of studies conducted in Kenya that may not have been published in peer-reviewed journals which often contain rich and quality information despite not being shared in any other platform.
The site also allows researchers to interact and share methodologies and emerging evidence across various thematic areas. With the approval of the National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (NACOSTI) NACC also collects and continually updates data from Ethical Review Committee (ERCs).
This way, the hub is able to provide updated information on ongoing HIV research of whatever nature to reduce duplication in protocol and proposal development among stakeholders. NACC utilizes the information to promote evidence-based programming and policy formulation.
The platform is accessible and open to contribution from partners and researchers who have been registered and approved by the Council. Non-registered partners and researchers can only access select resources in the hub.
