The National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC) joined Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Hon. Duncan Maina Mathenge and Kyeni Member of Parliament Hon. Njoroge Wainaina in a community sensitization campaign aimed at strengthening public awareness and action against the Triple Threat of new HIV infections, adolescent pregnancies, and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).

The engagement brought together residents of Nyeri Town to promote informed dialogue on the social and health challenges facing adolescents and young people, while encouraging collective responsibility in preventing new HIV infections, reducing teenage pregnancies, and addressing SGBV.

Speaking during the outreach, the two legislators reaffirmed their commitment to supporting interventions that protect adolescents and young people, emphasizing the importance of sustained partnerships between national and county institutions, community leaders, and citizens in accelerating progress towards ending the Triple Threat.

The initiative underscored the critical role of community engagement in advancing public health. By taking prevention messages directly to communities, leaders can help address harmful norms, increase awareness of available health services, and encourage positive behaviour change.

As the national body mandated to coordinate Kenya’s multisectoral response to HIV and other syndemic diseases, NSDCC continues to work with leaders, communities, and partners to strengthen local ownership of interventions that contribute to healthier, safer, and more resilient communities.
