The National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC) Board of Directors held a high-level engagement with the County Government of Kitui, led by H.E. Dr. Julius Makau Malombe, EGH, to strengthen collaboration in the response to HIV and other syndemic diseases.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Board and county leadership to review progress in the HIV response, discuss emerging priorities, and identify strategies for accelerating efforts towards ending AIDS as a public health threat while addressing the broader syndemic disease burden. Key discussions focused on evidence-based programming, strategic communication, targeted prevention initiatives, strengthened treatment and care services, and the use of data to inform decision-making and resource allocation.
Participants emphasized the importance of multisectoral coordination and closer collaboration between the National and County Governments through a One Government, One Society approach to enhance the effectiveness, sustainability, and impact of health interventions. The engagement also highlighted the need for strong partnerships among government agencies, development partners, communities, and other stakeholders in advancing a coordinated response.
The NSDCC delegation was led by Board Directors Victor Momanyi, Janes Ntambo, Patrick Macharia, Ruth Bungei, and Lucy Njenga, accompanied by Jenny Gakii, Ag. Director, Regional Offices Coordination, and Stephen Muthoka, Senior Principal Programme Officer. The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment to strengthening health systems and improving outcomes for the people of Kitui County.
