As part of ongoing efforts to address new HIV infections, adolescent pregnancies and sexual and gender-based violence among adolescents and young people, the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC), in partnership with the area Member of Parliament, Members of the County Assembly, National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs), non-state actors and other stakeholders, held an End the Triple Threat public education and sensitisation forum in Navakholo Sub-county, one of the priority areas identified for intensified community engagement.
The forum, held at the Friends Quakers Church grounds, targeted out-of-school young people and provided information on HIV prevention, sexual and reproductive health, gender-based violence prevention and available support services. It also brought together local leaders, community opinion leaders and other stakeholders to strengthen coordinated community action in protecting adolescents and young people.
The event was officially opened by Ms. Adhiambo Odhiambo, Senior Assistant County Commissioner, Navakholo Sub-county, on behalf of the County Commissioner. In her remarks, she underscored the importance of sustained collaboration among government, communities and partners to address the factors that place young people at risk and strengthen community-based prevention and support systems.
