The Ministry of Health, through the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC) and the National AIDS & STI Control Programme (NASCOP), held a consultative meeting with the Ministry of Labour recently to review the draft National Workplace Policy on HIV and AIDS.

The policy provides a comprehensive framework to guide workplace HIV programmes across both the public and private sectors, aiming to promote a healthy workforce and a stigma-free, inclusive work environment.

Key recommendations from the meeting included the need to expand the policy’s scope to address additional health issues affecting employees—such as mental health, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and drug and substance abuse. Participants also underscored the importance of broad-based stakeholder engagement in finalizing the policy.
