World AIDS Day 2024 will be commemorated across all 47 counties, with a focus on promoting healthy masculinity and improving health outcomes for men and boys. The event will address the triple threat of new HIV infections, mistimed pregnancies, and sexual and gender-based violence among adolescents and young people.
Speaking during the HIV Inter-Agency Coordination Committee meeting to review progress made in Quarter 4 of FY 2023/2024, Dr. Ruth Masha praised the multi-sectoral partners for their contributions to the HIV response. She urged members to remain steadfast in the final push toward a Kenya free of AIDS. Dr. Masha also announced that Kenya will host the 55th UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board from December 10-12, 2024. She emphasized that the country will celebrate over three decades of progress in what has become one of the largest global responses to a single disease.
During the meeting, partners reviewed the implementation of the Global Fund for HIV, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, receiving reports from key recipients such as the Kenya Red Cross and the National Treasury.
