The National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC), under the leadership of CEO Douglas Bosire, today 30th November 2025, led the country in the World AIDS Day Half Marathon as a build-up to other events that will run in the counties on 1st December 2025 which is the official World AIDS Day. The event, held under the theme One Goal, One Race: End AIDS in Children and Adolescents, brought together leaders, athletes, partners and citizens in a united call to protect the next generation from HIV.
The marathon was graced by H.E. Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, EGH, Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Dr. Ouma Oluga, OGW Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Mary Muthoni, Principal Secretary, Public Health, and Caren Agengo โ Principal Secretary, State Department of Children Welfare. Others were: representatives of other Principal Secretaries, Dr. Patrick Amoth, Director General, Health, Dr. Andrew Mulwa, Head, NASCOP, and Sen. Veronica Maina among other dignitaries who reaffirmed the governmentโs commitment to ending new HIV infections among children and adolescents.
World AIDS Day, commemorated globally on 1st December each year, provides an opportunity to reflect on progress made, honour lives lost, and strengthen solidarity with people living with and affected by HIV. For 2025, Kenyaโs national theme reinforces the need for multisectoral collaboration, advocacy campaigns, community mobilisation, and youth engagement in the HIV response.
